THIELMANN CEO

Granada-based stainless steel container manufacturer THIELMANN PORTINOX has appointed Alberto Borque as its new Chief Executive Officer following its acquisition by Irestal Group, a move signaling continued growth and operational evolution for the longtime industry player.

Borque, who joined THIELMANN in 2013, brings deep operational and business development experience to the role. Prior to his promotion, he served as Director of Operations for the THIELMANN Group and Managing Director of THIELMANN PORTINOX Spain, leading major transformation and efficiency initiatives across the organization.

“Alberto Borque has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the business,” said Joaquim Boixareu, President and CEO of Irestal Group. “We are confident that, under his leadership, THIELMANN PORTINOX will continue to strengthen its market position and move towards new achievements.”

Expanding international reach and innovation in stainless steel containers

In his new role, Borque says he aims to expand THIELMANN PORTINOX’s international presence, increase its value proposition, and support innovation and sustainability initiatives in collaboration with Irestal Group.

THIELMANN PORTINOX is a global supplier of stainless steel containers, including beverage kegs, IBCs, and pressure vessels for the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. The company also manufactures stainless steel sanitary ware under the PORTINOX brand. With more than 60 years of experience, it operates globally from its factory in Granada and maintains service centers in the U.K. and U.S.

Irestal Group adds manufacturing firepower to its stainless steel portfolio

The acquisition strengthens Irestal Group’s footprint in the stainless steel processing and manufacturing space. Founded in 1945 and owned by the Boixareu family, Irestal was a pioneer in Spain’s stainless steel market and now operates 20 distribution centers across Europe. The company processes and distributes stainless products and manufactures welded stainless steel tubes for industries such as food and beverage, chemical, automotive, and solar thermal energy.

Its flagship service center in Abrera (Barcelona) spans more than 40,000 m² and is equipped to fulfill orders within 48 hours across its distribution network.
