You might not know the name Jermaine Rogers, but you might know his work (especially if you like good music). He’s one of the luminaries of the modern art category of “gig posters,” and he’s designed concert posters for everyone from Radiohead and Neil Young to David Bowie and Public Enemy. His work is even cataloged among the permanent collections of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland (where CBB offices lie, deep underground). So basically, this guy’s art kicks ass, and its edgy weirdness is the perfect tone and look for Dogfish Head’s “off-centered” craft beers.
Dogfish Head recently announced that ApriHop and its other seasonals are getting a refreshed look thanks to Rogers. He’s created a series of creatures that will adorn the labels of each of Dogfish Head’s seasonals: Aprihop in spring, Festina Peche in summer, Punkin Ale in fall and Piercing Pils in winter. Prints of all four, going for $50 each, will go on sale when Aprihop is released, and T-shirts will drop with each season. According to another Dogfish Head post:
“We loved Jermaine’s combination of colors and his off-centered approach to emotionally-animated-animal-artsy awesomeness,” says Dogfish Head Founder and President Sam Calagione. “And his heroes are our heroes, too, especially Warhol.”
While we don’t have photos of the new labels, we do have images of the screen prints below. Each will be signed, numbered and (as mentioned) cost $50. The brewery is also selling men’s and women’s Aprihop T-shirts and a set of stone coasters with Rogers’s art. Now enjoy these crazy-amazing designs. Kudos to Dogfish and Rogers.
