Are you aware of the Unipiper’s existence? Well, he’s the original, flame-spewing, bagpiping, uni-cycling Darth Vader from Portland. View his chops right here. We applauded his art last year at the 2015 Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America, where he made much music and mirth at the big opening party. The Unipiper is classic Portland — i.e., suitably strange and adorable. Do you know who else is equally strange, cuddlesome and Oregonian? Rogue Brewery and Spirits. So it only made sense that the two pair up for a pickle-themed collaboration beer, emirite?
In this excellently bizarre video, the Unipiper returns to the Green Dragon Bistro & Pub in Portland to team up with the Green Dragon Brew Crew, creating an extremely unique, kettle-soured Cucumber Gose known as “The Pickled Piper.” The beer will be released on May 4 at 5 p.m. (we’re being very precise here!). The kettle-soured cucumber Gose was dry hopped with Sorachi Ace hops and infused with an ample dose of pickling spices along with fresh cucumber. Pickle gose certainly sounds like the perfect Portland summer beer. Play us out, bagpipes!
