Learn the history and watch the production of New Holland’s fabled Dragon’s Milk

Dragon’s Milk. One of the coolest names in craft beer, produced by New Holland Brewing Co. out of New Holland, Mich. The name refers to knights slaying dragons and celebrating their bravery with mythical monster milk. New Holland’s version is an equally brave and bold basilisk of beer. The American double/imperial stout takes more effort to brew than any of the Michigan brewhouse’s other beers. According to the video above, the brand takes six to seven hours to brew (most beers take two to three hours), before fermenting for two weeks and then being placed in bourbon barrels for three months. Usually that type of intensive concoction is relegated to a limited release, but Dragon’s Milk is available year around from New Holland, and it’s become its biggest seller.

Just last week, New Holland announced its final 2016 Reserve batches of Dragon’s Milk to markets around the country with three variations; Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Vanilla Chai, Dragon’s Milk Reserve Coconut Rum Barrel and a special draft-only Dragon’s Milk: Brewer’s Select. These variations are shipping from New Holland’s production facility now and hit store shelves and local bars and restaurants during the month of October. To learn more, watch the video above.
