Why so fast Anchor Brewing Co.? I know this is a time-lapse tour of your San Francisco brewery, but let’s pump the brakes here. Watching this sober makes me a little queasy, and I’m never more sober than on a Monday at 4:30 p.m. Anchor is one of America’s first and oldest craft breweries, tracing its roots back to the California gold rush. Today, its beers are still handmade from an all-malt mash in Anchor’s traditional copper brewhouse in northern California.
Visitors can still get a glimpse at the centuries-old craft brewing traditions at the brewery on 1705 Mariposa St. The brewery offers two guided public tours each weekday, by reservation only. Beer drinkers will get a brief history of the company and a walk through three floors of its brewery. And yes, there’s a tasting session immediately to follow. Together, the brewery tour and the beer tasting last for about 1.5 hours. OR, just watch this 45-second video tour instead. Viewers will definitely earn a brewski if they don’t get the barfs by the end of it.
