Out in the rural Vermont countryside, there’s a pastoral beer Shangri-La that’s attracting craft nerds like pilgrims. It’s called Hill Farmstead Brewery, and it might be one of the most famous breweries in the world for its size. Hill Farmstead produces a mere 60,000 gallons of beer annually. In comparison, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Delaware produced 6.3 million gallons last year. But because the brewery has sworn to stay small (indefinitely!) and it’s earned some of the industry’s biggest accolades, named 2013 Best Brewery in the World, it’s become a mecca for craft enthusiasts. In fact, beer lovers from around the world travel to ultra-rural Greensboro, Vt., to buy the beer; it’s the only place you can actually buy bottles. So, big question: Who is the mysterious man behind this operation? It’s owner Shaun Hill, and even though he loves Vermont’s provincial beauty, he’s actually got the globally-learned brew credentials to make world-class beer. Just watch the video above.
