The Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas, best known for its Shiner Bock, is making a $100,000 contribution to The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country to support flood relief efforts in Kerr County, Texas, following the devastating flooding this past July 4 weekend. The brewery’s K. Spoetzl BBQ Co. will also be contributing all proceeds from the restaurant on Sunday, July 13th to The Community Foundation.
“Our hearts are with the Kerr County community and all those affected as they recover from these floods,” stated Tom Fiorenzi, Shiner’s Director of Brewery and Distillery Operations. “As a fellow small town, we in Shiner feel a deep need to stand with those affected and offer our support. We also want to give a huge thank-you to all the first responders and volunteers who have worked over the last several days to support the community.”
Shiner’s Got Your Back
Shiner Beers is making the donation in connection with their “Shiner’s Got Your Back” initiative, which provides funds for disaster relief to small communities like Kerrville, which in many ways is like the Spoetzl Brewery’s hometown of Shiner, Texas. Shiner’s Got Your Back has a long-standing history for supporting small communities.
Past donations include funds for wildfire relief in North Texas and Ruidoso, New Mexico in 2024; the Wurstfest fire in New Braunfels, Texas in 2019; tornado relief in Moore, Oklahoma, Franklin, Texas, and Canton, Texas in 2017; and a fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas in 2013.
The Spoetzl Brewery was founded in Shiner, Texas (population 2,069), in 1909, brewing beer with old-world traditions and recipes for the many German and Czech settlers in Central Texas. Since then, the brewery has grown to be one of the largest independent craft brewers in the country, available in all 50 states and Mexico.
