Sanitas Brewing teaches us about beer glasses

Are all those fancy beer glasses just marketing techniques to make a few extra bucks? Or, can a glass make a beer actually taste and look better? It’s probably a little bit of both. Like when Ken Grossman, Sam Calagione and German glass experts Spiegelau designed a vessel specifically for Indian Pale Ales (IPAs). The Spiegelau IPA glass was designed to showcase the varying aromatic profiles for the American “hop forward” IPA beer, preserve a frothy head and maintain a comfortably wide opening for the drinker to “nose” the beverage. No matter what glasses you use to serve your beer, you should follow a few guidelines to enjoy the best brew. Although chilled mugs look great, avoid the temptation to throw just any beer in any glass. Watch the excellent video above. Big props to Michael Memsic, co-founder of Sanitas Brewing Co., and Tundra Restaurant Supply.
