This is a new one. I feel like we say this a lot in terms of new brewing locations — like the one that’s also a coffee shop, or the one with the lofts to rent or the one that’s a strip club to pay lower licensing fees — but this one might be the most off the beaten beer path. And that makes us love it.

The Lemay Avenue Craft Brewery & Self-Storage Facility slated for the Buckingham area was approved unanimously Thursday by the Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Board.
Developers plan to break ground on the 7,219-square-foot brewery and seven self-storage buildings in March. A brewer has yet to be selected for the project, developer Stan Scott said Friday.
Scott’s company, Fort Collins Self-Storage LLC, plans to operate roughly 700 storage units at the southwest corner of Buckingham Street and Lemay Avenue. Another company will run the brewery, he said.
“It will be a very nice facility and unlike traditional self storage,” Scott said. A three-story building on site will be 45 feet tall and include climate-controlled, secured units.
In all, the seven storage buildings will cover 103,000 square feet, and the brewery will be using a 20-barrel system. We are looking forward to the first collaboration between the two — a nice storage-aged porter, perhaps.
