An overview of the Krones bottling line at Abita Brewing

With the ever-increasing demand for its tasty craft beer, Abita Brewing Co. needed a new bottling plant. The existing Italian Line in 1999 had long been used with a capacity of 9,000 bottles per hour at full capacity. “The more we stressed it, the lower was its efficiency,” said Abita President David Blossman in this Krones in-house article. “The fill level accuracy did not fit the pasteurization. It was just not reliable enough. Labeling and final packaging left something to be desired, and the efficiency dropped to 80 percent. The new line should bring more capacity, offer higher efficiency, deliver a quality bottling and be much more flexible.” Abita Brewing decided on a new Krones bottling line, which began operating in November 2011, which produced higher efficiency, higher quality, better hygiene and a lot more flexibility. Learn about all the technicalities of this next generation bottling line in the video above. Cheers.
